Biokyowa Plant in Cape Girardeau
Two huge plant expansions on the same Cape Girardeau Nash Road site amounting to $85 million have been progressing for over two years. BioKyowa has completed their feed and grain lysine product facility that will increase their capacity up to 25,000 metric tons a year for the food supplement for swine and poultry. They were the first producer of this product in the United States.
The other expansion involved the Kyowa Foods division which will manufacturer nucleotide seasonings developed by the company. The increased size of these facilities will double the work force to about 200 employees. BioKyowa and Kyowa Foods are both owned by Kyowa Hakko Kogyo Company, Ltd. of Tokyo, Japan, which has annual sales of more than $3 billion.
