DOUGHNUT DRIVE IN

TO OPEN AT CAPE...

N. Kingshighway & Hopper Road - Cape Girardeau

Cape area doughnut lovers will welcome the opening of Houchin’s Do-Nut Drive In opening soon at the corner of North Kingshighway and Hopper Road.  The location is in the former site of Mathis Motors, a used car dealership that closed in late summer.

Jerry and his wife Patsy Johnson will manage the new business.  The new store will feature a drive up for customers who don’t want to leave their automobiles, but will also cater to eat-in customers with room for 50 in the dining room.

There has been a Houchin’s Do-Nut operation in Sikeston for more than 42 years.  The Johnson’s are part owners in that company along with Kenny Bridger, also of Sikeston.

With more than 35 years in the sweets business, the Johnson’s, originally from Malden, Missouri feel confident that they can provide a wide variety of goods, including glazed and cake doughnuts, long john varieties and a selection of Danish style rolls. A November 24th opening is planned.
