Bloomfield Road Near Broadview in Cape Girardeau
Basic Fuel will add another location in the region with it's newest operation to be built on Bloomfield Road near Broadview in Cape Girardeau. The site is located across Bloomfield Road from K's Merchandise is also within site of South Kingshighway.
The fuel retailer who presently has an operation in Jackson along Highway 61 has caused a stir with both consumers and competitors in the area with their fuel prices. Traditionally they have lower prices than the competing convenience store operations around them. They offer a no frills, cash only policy to their customers and sell gasoline only.
In fact this pricing trend sparked a law suit by some gasoline competitors last year, charging the company with selling fuel at prices lower than cost, evidently a violation of Missouri consumer laws.
The company publicly denied the accusations. It was uncertain as to the status of the litigation. The company purchased the Cape site a few months ago and plans to move ahead with construction right away. A sign on the site announcing the coming opening read "Suffering from gas pains? We are the cure!".
