CAPE GOLF COURSE

OPENS

Bloomfield Road Near Hwy 74 in Cape Girardeau

Cape's newest golf course is now a reality and will eventually include a 900 acre development along Bloomfield Road near Highway 74 in Cape Girardeau.  One of the largest projects presently between St. Louis and Memphis, the Prestwick Group of Cape Girardeau has constructed the first 18 holes of a planned 27 hole course. Also on the drawing boards is a planned residential community, club house, corporate lodges and condominium units.

The selected name for the course will be Dalhousie Golf Club, which derives it's source from the Earl of Dalhousie near Edinburgh, Scotland.  The second phase of the multi-million dollar project is dependant on Tax Increment Financing package that is presently being ironed out between the City of Cape Girardeau and the local school system.

The property was sold to the group by Pat Evans, who will continue to live in the historic Elmwood mansion and will retain 70 acres of property in the center of the project. Play on the golf course has been on-going since the spring.
