PART II (page two) As previously mentioned in Part I, the growing area of Southeast Missouri and the Cape Girardeau required more community services which included governmental, schools and places to stay.

Main Street Scene Featuring First National Bank Bldg. American's began to take to the roads in their automobiles and with Cape's location, it too prospered with the construction of paved highways. Roadside gas stations and places to eat began to spring up on the West side of town.

Viaduct Court - Highway 74 & 61 These has been just a brief pictorial history of Cape Girardeau using some old pictures to tell part of the story.
