DENNY'S OPENS
IN CAPE GIRARDEAU...
William Street & West Drive - Cape Girardeau
The former Shoney's Restaurant located in Cape Girardeau at William Street and West Drive took on a new look. Jim Erkmann from Lake St. Louis has opened the Denny's Diner, which has a little different look than the standard Denny's.
Taking on a nostalgic theme, the restaurant will have employees in bowling style shirts and even a jukebox playing tunes from the 1950s and '60s.
Erkmann whose company owns 19 Denny's both in Missouri and Illinois says the former Shoney's building has had a major renovation in order to accommodate the new Denny's Diner concept.
The former Cape Girardeau Shoney's was closed nearly a year ago along with a number of locations which according to company officials was a cost savings move for the Memphis based operator.
Denny's officials announced the restaurant will be open 24 hours, seven days a week.
