NEW SOUTHEAST MISSOURI COURTHOUSE
NEARING COMPLETION IN CAPE GIRARDEAU...
Frederick & Independence St. - Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Cape Girardeau will be the recipient of a new 150,000-square-foot federal courthouse being constructed just west of the Cape Girardeau City Hall .Much of the construction has been completed with the interior finish yet to be done.
The new $49.3 million federal courthouse is being built at the corner of Frederick and Independence streets.
The new facility will include three courtrooms, with space to construct a fourth, and four judges' offices. The newest Cape Girardeau federal facility will also contain offices for federal prosecutors, public defenders and the U.S. Marshals Service.
The present Federal Courthouse located at Broadway and Fountain will also be retained for government use according to officials close to the project.
The state of the art courthouse will contain the latest in security systems and a number of interior parking spaces.. If all goes according to plan, court could be in session as early as 2006.
