D-MART BUILDING MOBILE
HOME MEGACENTER....
I-55 & Highway 61 Exit - Jackson, Missouri
The 85,000 square foot building being constructed along Interstate 55 at the Jackson-Fruitland exit is hard to miss. D-Mart Homes is building one of the first inside showrooms in the country to specifically display mobile homes, similar to a new car dealership except much larger.
Known as "megacenters" these facilities feature a year round weather controlled showroom for mobile home sales ranging from single wide to multi section modular models. Room for over 20 of the units, the displays will include skirting, some with decks, complete landscaping and a 40' street down the middle of the complex. In addition to the giant inside showroom, additional homes will be displayed outside the huge center.
Reportedly, the first mobile home megacenter was in New Philadelphia and located in a former discount store of 72,000 square feet. Although the D-Mart facility is not the first in this concept, it may be the first in the nation to be built new for such use.
D-Mart Homes, a Drury company is presently located just up the outer road from the new site. Drury has developed the area with a new hotel, restaurant, 2 branded convenience stores, a small shopping center, duplexes and large mobile home park to compliment the sales operation.
