NORDYNE PLANT EXPANDS IN POPLAR BLUFF...
Nordyne's Center in St. Peters, Missouri Nordyne Inc.will expand it's manufacturing plant in Poplar Bluff to include nearly 745,000 square feet of space. In addition the plant expansion, the heating and cooling manufacturer will also add over 400 new jobs. Total employment will increase to 700 workers. A few years ago the O'Fallon based company purchased the 455,000 square feet vacant Russell Stover building (almost 10 football fields) in Poplar Bluff. At the time company officials said the Southeast Missouri location was picked from other possibilities because of the suitability of the existing facility, quality of the work force and help offered by local and state officials. Funding for the expansion will come from a $7.3 million loan from the United States Agriculture Rural Development agency. Established in 1965 the company manufactures furnaces and air conditioners, much of it for the manufactured home industry. The Poplar Bluff company manufactures several products for several other companies including Frigidaire, Tappan, Glibson, Kelvinator and Philco. Construction on the substantial addition to the Poplar Bluff plant has already begun. |
