BOTH CAPE HOSPITALS HAVE

MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR EXPANSION PROJECTS

St. Francis Medical Center's Expansion

Both Cape Girardeau hospitals have major expansion projects under construction.  St. Francis Medical Center broke ground for its new $20 million Health and Wellness Center. The four-story, 134,000-square-foot center will integrate physician offices, outpatient rehabilitation, sports medicine, health and wellness programs, and fitness center services. Completion is expected to be by  the fall of 2004.

Southeast Hospital's new Medical Office Building

Southeast Missouri Hospital has also begun construction on a $15 million dollar 75,000 square foot medical office building that will front on Broadway adjacent to the existing hospital.  In addition to physician offices, the four-story building will also house hospital support services, including radiology, laboratory, a retail pharmacy and other ambulatory services. It will also be connecting to Southeast’s Regional Cancer Center and a concourse on the west side will provide access to a weather-protected link to a new 306 car parking garage. A July 2005 completion date is anticipated.

Former Albertson's to be Southeast's Fitness & Rehabilitation Center

Southeast has also acquired the former Albertson's Food Store, a 57,000 square foot building and will convert it into a fitness and rehabilitation center. The property located at Kingshighway and Independence Street in Cape Girardeau is already being remodeled.  All of these various projects insure that Cape Girardeau will continue to be Southeast Missouri's healthcare provider for the entire region.
